So many exciting reveals, teases and previews of upcoming projects came out of New York Comic Con 2025! There is honestly so much that it's tough to keep track of it all... so here is a quick rundown (with links for further reading) đ
I also want to give a quick shout out to some excellent quotes from a couple speakers over the convention:
"DC Comics will not support AI-generated storytelling or artwork. Not now. Not everâas long as Anne Depies and I are in charge. Because what we doâand why we do itâis rooted in our humanity. Itâs that fragile, beautiful connection between imagination and emotion that fuels our mediumâthe thing that makes our universe come alive [...] Thatâs why human creativity matters. AI doesnât dream. It doesnât feel. And it doesnât make artâit aggregates it. Our jobâas creators, as storytellers, as publishersâis to make people feel something real. Thatâs why we create. Thatâs why weâre still here." - Jim Lee, Chief Creative Officer at DC Comics [Read his full Retailer Day Keynote Speech]
"We never used it, we will not be using it, and we donât condone it in the Marvel Comics division.â - C.B. Cebulski, Editor-In-Chief at Marvel Comics when asked about AI [Find more from the folks at Comicsbeat.com]
"For years, we've been told comic books are pop culture. Comic books are not pop culture. Comic books are culture. Pop culture is a sign of the times, a fixed moment where you talk about the things that affect you daily. Culture are stories passed down through generations. That's what comics are. DC Comics is celebrating 90 years. That's a lot of generations of stories being passed down. So, we're not pop culture. We're culture. We're part of the everyday culture. Pop culture is ephemeral. Culture is your existence. What you're experiencing every minute of every day." - Patrick Brower & W. Dal Bush of Challengers Comics & Conversation [If you know anyone in the Chicago area, tell 'em to go here!]

Marvel
Yes it is really happening. One way or another, the Ultimate Universe we have been absolutely loving... will end. Alongside the 'Ultimate Endgame' mini-series, we will see the final issues of 'Ultimate Spider-Man', 'Ultimate Black Panther', 'Ultimate X-Men', 'The Ultimates' & 'Ultimate Wolverine'. The only real tease we have as to what will escape this finale is in the form of the crossover mini-series 'Ultimate Spider-Man Incursion'. Marvel state that Miles Morales will escape back to the main 616 Universe with a handful of The Maker's Origin Boxes that will be "setting the stage for new heroes and storylines throughout 2026". Hopefully it fills the hole in my heart left by a lack of Spider-Man series by Jonathan Hickman & Marco Checchetto. Read more from Marvel directly here.
Marvel's mutants are showing no sign of slowing down, with a new era of X-Men storytelling they are calling 'Shadows of Tomorrow'. The promo image with the whole gang is supposedly the cover to a currently unannounced X-title. So alongside the still ongoing 'X-Men' by Jed MacKay, 'Uncanny X-Men' by Gail Simone & 'Wolverine' by Saladin Ahmed, we will have a slate of new #1s arriving in 2026. These include new series for Storm & Magik after having recent solo series', as well as a new X-project from 'Exceptional X-Men' writer Eve L. Ewing! Check out the full details on all the X-Men related series in Marvel's full news post here!
A whole bunch of new series #1's and crossovers! Here's the run-down: 'Iron Man (2026)' #1 by (checks notes) Joshua Williamson?! The DC Comics writer?!?! What a get! 'Amazing Spider-Man/Venom: Death Spiral' is an upcoming story arc between the two titles and includes an appearance from Carnage too. 'Dungeons of Doom' is a 3-issue mini-series exploring the horrors Doctor Doom is hiding in the depths of Latveria. Godzilla is back with yet another crossover in the Marvel Universe, this time at cosmic proportions in 'Godzilla: Infinity Roar'. And it wouldn't be Marvel Comics in the 2020's without yet another new #1 for Moon Knight written by Jed MacKay!
Okay so one half of this is Marvel and one half is a new manga title by Viz Media, but I just had to feature this first part. A brand new Jar Jar Binks story is coming in 2026! Yes you read that correctly! 'Star Wars: Jar Jar' is a one-shot releasing in February 2026 by Marc Guggenheim and the actor himself, Ahmed Best! Best also portrayed Kelleran Beq in flashbacks from 'The Mandalorian', and this comic will see the two characters interact in the wake of Palpatine's power grab. We finally get to see how Jar Jar comes to terms with how he granted the Chancellor emergency powers, leading to the rise of The Empire! Am I the only one excited for this?! I don't care I'm so down for this. Here is some required listening to a very funny podcast I like. Plus the new Star Wars: Visions title 'Tsukumo' by Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi looks sick. Check out all the Lucasfilm Publishing announcements at Comicsbeat.com.
Finally from Marvel was a bunch of news for their upcoming shows. They gave sneak previews for 'Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man' Season 2 as well as 'X-Men '97' Season 2, both of which I cannot wait to see! They even confirmed a Season 3 is in production for 'X-Men '97'!! They discussed 'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2, which premieres in March 2026, and even confirmed that a 3rd season is in the works! Paul Bettany even surprised the panel audience with an appearance to give some details on the upcoming 'VisionQuest' series. Last but not least, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Sir Ben Kingsley revealed the first full trailer for 'Wonder Man' which arrives in January 2026 and I personally cannot wait for. This trailer slaps. For more details check out the summary of the full panel here.
DC
2026 looks like it will be the Year of Vertigo! Get your (googles medicine for motion sickness) meclizine (?) ready because DC showed off TEN titles! Of course we have 'Nice House By The Sea' by James Tynion IV continuing it's second half in 2026 but lets take a look at the other NINE series!
First up is the return of a personal favourite of Greenlight Comics co-owners Dan & Ross, '100 Bullets: The US of Anger' from the original '100 Bullets' creative team Brian Azzarello & Eduardo Risso. Kyle Starks ('Peacemaker Tries Hard!', 'Where Monsters Lie', 'Sexcastle', 'I Hate This Place', 'Rock Candy Mountain', 'Kill Them All') is once again teaming up with Steve Pugh ('Peacemaker Tries Hard!', 'The Flintstones', 'Harley Quinn: Breaking Glass') for 'End of Life', the story of a hitman returning to his small midwestern hometown as his father reaches his end. Dinosaurs! Zombies! People love 'em! Put 'em together and you get... 'Necretaceous'! This rotting-rex-romp is coming at you from Australian writer Tom Taylor ('Detective Comics', 'Nightwing', 'DCeased', 'Dark Knights of Steel', 'Injustice') and Darick Robertson ('The Boys').
Grace Ellis ('Moonstruck', 'Lumberjanes', 'Flung Out Of Space') and Hannah Templer ('Cosmoknights', 'Flung Out Of Space') team-up once again with 'Fanatic', a deadly exploration into fandom obsessions and parasocial fixations going too far. 'The Crying Doll' brings back together the creative team of the excellent bestseller 'Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me'! Slated as a 1980's Jekyll-and-Hyde thriller, set in New York City, with explorations of the early-days of the AIDs crisis. At the panel, Mariko Tamaki gave the incredible quote "I think itâs worth noting that Laura Dean was about messed up lesbians, and this is also about messed up lesbians". Also, Deniz Camp ('The Ultimates', '20th Century Men', 'Absolute Martian Manhunter', 'Assorted Crisis Events') & Stipan Morian ('20th Century Men') have 'Bleeding Hearts', which follows an undead lad called Poke 10-years after a zombie outbreak.
The creative team behind 'That Texas Blood', Chris Condon & Jacob Phillips, are introducing a new investigator to the crime/mystery/noir line-up. 'The Peril of the Brutal Dark: An Ezra Cain Mystery' is the first of what the team plan on being six-issue story arcs each following the titular main character on a different investigation. Ram V ('The Many Deaths of Laila Starr', 'The One Hand & The Six Fingers', 'Rare Flavours', 'Detective Comics', 'The Swamp Thing') & Mike Perkins ('The Swamp Thing', 'The Bat-Man: First Knight', 'Captain America') bring wizard spies, the sorcery of the occult and global cold war tensions in 'Black Tower: The Raven Conspiracy'. Lastly, 'Hellblazer: Dead in America' team Simon Spurrier & Aaron Campbell revealed their upcoming survival horror series 'A Walking Shadow'. You can read further into each of these new Vertigo titles on DC's news post as well as here.
A surprise DC Comics appearance at the BOOM! Studios panel with James Tynion IV revealing that a crossover between his best-selling series 'Something Is Killing The Children' & 'Swamp Thing'?! Expect this One-Shot to be fully shown-off soon!
DC K.O. appears to be even crazier than just "DC Comics does a Mortal Kombat style tournament" ... because Mortal Kombat is just freaking in it now?! That's right your eyes aren't deceiving you, DC K.O. is crossing over with not only fellow WB Discovery owned property Mortal Kombat, but with Dynamite & IDW Comics properties too! Expect appearances from Sub-Zero (Mortal Kombat), Red Sonja (Dynamite), Vampirella (Dynamite), Homelander from 'The Boys' (Dynamite) & the strangest of the bunch... Samantha from 'Beneath The Trees Where Nobody Sees' (IDW)?! EDIT: Okay no joke I was writing that from my memory of the announcement and then when I found the image to insert above I totally had forgotten f**king Annabelle the doll from 'The Conjuring' was in this announcement too. I hope Superman kicks that creepy little sh*t into space.
At the DC Next Level reveal we got a peek at some series hitting shelves in 2026, along with some creatives who will be across the various projects. The ones we know: 'Batwoman' by Greg Rucka & Dani, 'Lobo' by Skottie Young & Jorge Corona and 'Legion of Superheroes' written by Joshua Williamson. The ones we don't know: 'Deathstroke The Terminator', 'Firestorm: The Nuclear Man', 'Batman: Shadow Of The Bat', 'Zatanna', 'The Demon' & 'Barbara Gordon: Breakout'. These will feature these creators in yet unannounced team-ups: Deniz Camp, Mariko Tamaki, James Harren, Jeff Lemire, Tony Fleecs & Jamal Campbell. Keep an eye out for more details in the coming months!
Last, but CERTAINLY not least (in my opinion), we have the reveal of 'Sirens: Love Hurts'! From the creative team of Tini Howard ('Catwoman', 'Harley Quinn', 'X-CORP') & Babs Tarr ('Batgirl', 'Motor Crush' & gorgeous variant covers), expect the "hot girl Gotham book" for the Black Label line. Meaning expect adult sexy romance themes to play out across the year long set story, which they lovingly referred to as "Long Halloween for the girlies" and Sex & The City in Gotham. Expect amazing new outfits for each season and Babs' amazing art throughout. I know I'm subscribing! đ
Everyone Else
The legendary duo of Jeff Lemire & Dustin Nguyen, who have previously collaborated on 'Descender', 'Ascender', 'Little Monsters', 'Robin & Batman' & 'Robin & Batman: Jason Todd', are back at Image Comics for a brand new ongoing series. 'Crowbound' promises to be a dark fantasy story, a blood-soaked fairytale, exploring "a haunted, post-apocalyptic dreamscape" of odd creatures and long-forgotten gods. Sounds good, and with art by Nguyen, you know it looks good too!
Ize Press (a.k.a. Yen Press) are bringing more Solo Leveling to print for English readers! June 2026 is set for the release of 'Solo Leveling: Ragnarok', a sequel series expanding upon the universe and storytelling of the original, which comes to a conclusion early-mid 2026.

'Delicious in Dungeon' (a.k.a. 'Dungeon Meshi'), the manga and anime hit series, is getting a board game! Yen Press has revealed 'Monster Eater: Delicious In Dungeon', a co-operative dungeon delver for 2-5 players full of art from the series. Please note that this board game is not edible, but is still suggested to be enjoyed with friends.
One Last Thing...
Keep up the great work Daniel Warren Johnson!Â
